INTRODUCTION
What is TDS Return Filing?
A person or entity required to deduct tax at source (TDS) must file a TDS Return to comply with the Income Tax Act. Every quarter, the Tax Deductor must submit this return to the Income Tax Department.
A TDS Return is a statement showing:
✔️ Details of tax deducted at source
✔️ From whom it was deducted
✔️ The amount paid to the government during that period
TDS is commonly deducted on payments like salaries, contractor fees, professional services, rent payments above certain limits, and more. Each type of payment has a fixed TDS rate. Filing TDS Returns on time ensures the deductee gets credit for the tax deducted when they file their Income Tax Return.
